Day 46
A little scary to me that this is one of my 6th grade tutoring students social studies book.
"For a long time, the Bible was our only record of what early life in Mesopotamia was like. In recent years, men have found other records of early times there, but none is as accurate as the Bible, our only completely accurate record of ancient (very old) history."

Day 35
Stopped by the Mall of America for a couple hours tonight and saw this cool HUGE lego guy. You can tell how big it is because there's a Panda Express in the background with some people walking around. MOA by the way (all info according to wikipedia) is the largest mall in the country in terms of retail space, it receives 40 million visitors a year and is big enough to fit 7 Yankee stadiums!

Day 34
First workshop of the day at the White Privilege Conference here in Minnesota. I arrived here late last night and will be here through Saturday. The workshop was called "The Wall: Understanding and Dismantling Our Barriers to Cross-Difference Relationships" and led by this guy Jamie Utt, you can check out his blog at http://changefromwithin.org/. In the workshop we "deconstructed the role of prejudice, bigotry, and hate in our relationships," and were "empowered to reflect on our own experience with race and its intersection with religion, gender, sexual orientation, and class."

Day 33
Earthquake weather in the Bay Area this morning! It was relatively warm and sunny when I left home this morning, then I get to San Francisco and it's gray and cold and pouring rain! I get soaked on the walk to work since I wasn't wearing rain boots or a raincoat and didn't have an umbrella, then 5 minutes after I get inside my office it's not raining anymore and the sun is coming out.

Day 31
Went to watch Father of the Bride (the original, 1950 version with Elizabeth Taylor) at the Stanford Theatre. I love this place, they show only old movies and this organ guy comes out of the floor to play at the beginning and at the end.

I don't think the picture does this dog justice - he's huge! It's a Newfoundland, his name is Brutus, ran into him at the Redwood City farmer's market.
